Smoked Tofu

This recipe is so easy that we do not need to search for tofu that has been smoked and has had way too much sodium added anyway.

We made this in our Weekly Cooking Class!

Ingredients

  • 1 package firm/extra firm tofu, drained

  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke

  • liquid aminos in spray bottle (half liquid aminos, half water)

  • Alternative: 1 teaspoon each as marinade (adjust liquid aminos as appropriate for level of sodium and your health goals)

Instructions

  1. Slice well-drained (and pressed if you choose) tofu into strips.

  2. In a medium flat dish with sides, add liquid smoke first and then strips in a single layer (if not using spray, add liquid aminos to liquid smoke before strips and stir). Spritz both sides with liquid amino spray.

  3. Marinate for an hour, turning at least once partway through.

  4. Bake on parchment lined baking sheet for 40 minutes at 400 degrees. (Ovens vary, check after 30 minutes). Edges should be golden.
