No-Bake Beans (Plant Based)

Updated: Feb 3

I have been wanting to create a recipe that recreates that Heinz/Bush’s baked beans sweetness and dippable consistency. This is nostalgia in a pot.

We made this in our Weekly Cooking Class!

Plant Based Baked Beans with Toast in a Wood Bowl
Plant Based Baked Beans with Toast in a Wood Bowl

  • 3 tablespoons date sugar

  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper (to taste)

  • Optional: ¼ teaspoon liquid smoke

  • Optional: 1 tablespoon molasses

Instructions

1.      Add all ingredients except beans to a large pot over medium/high heat. Whisk well.

2.      Add drained beans and stir gently.

3.      Bring to a boil and then reduce to simmer uncovered for 20 minutes or until desired thickness is achieved, stirring occasionally.
